The 2CV is currently the oldest car most sought after by the French.
While Rétromobile is opening its doors on Wednesday, February 7, the association 40 million motorists publishes the list of the ten cars of collection most sought by the amateurs of old in France.
For the second year in a row, 40 million drivers took advantage of the Rétromobile show to deliver the ranking of the ten most coveted collector cars in France. This was done thanks to data from the Classic Expert network, a subsidiary of BCA Expertise.
By observing this ranking, we note that the Citroën brand is particularly appreciated, with no less than three models present. The mythical 2 CV is in first place , while the Mehari is placed fifth and the seventh DS.
French, foreign, popular, exception ...
The foreign cars are however well represented in this ranking, since the second and third positions are occupied by the Ford Mustang and the Austin Mini. The prestige models mix with the popular and we also find the Porsche 911 in sixth place or the Alpine A110 in tenth place.
Nevertheless, the preferences of the amateurs can vary from one year to another. This is how the Fiat 500 is curiously no longer part of the top 10 this year, while it held the first place last year .
Overall, 40 million motorists emphasize that the vintage car remains a very dynamic market in France . And, while the recent excessive rise in some models, such as the Ferrari and Porsche 911s of the 70s and 80s, is now calming down, an excellent original condition or a beautiful restoration makes it easier than ever to drive up the value of a car.
